Wests Magpies To Wests Tigers: Ken McGuinness

Wednesday 06 September 2017

The older of the two brothers, Ken McGuinness was a Minto junior who came through the Wests system and debuted in 1994, scoring what some claim to be the greatest try in club history.

Scoring 35 tries in 107 first grade games for the Magpies, Ken made six appearances for the Wests Tigers in their inaugural season before signing a one year deal with the Brisbane Broncos.

However, Ken spent the entirety of the season in the Queensland Cup before signing on for the North Queensland Cowboys in 2002, for whom he played nine games before hanging up the boots.

It was a rather low key and surprising end for Ken, who scored two tries in five Origin games for NSW in 1997 and 1998.
