Since 1987, Western Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club has been committed to fostering, nurturing and developing the game of rugby league throughout our catchment and footprint, by providing opportunities and a direct pathway to Wests Tigers for our young athletes who aspire to one day play in the NRL.
Western Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club is continually striving to improve all facets of our Development and Junior Representative programs for the betterment of not only the players in our representative system, but all players within our area, comprising both Western Suburbs District Junior Rugby League and Group 6 Rugby League.
We feel that now, to further progress rugby league in our region for years to come, a restructure is required to ease and reduce the impact of issues that currently exist.
As a major shareholder of the Wests Tigers organisation, Wests Magpies (WM) encourages and supports the potential opportunity for the continuing growth of Wests Tigers (WT), which in turn, sees rugby league as the major beneficiary.
The Macarthur, Liverpool, Wollondilly and Southern Highlands regions and their requirements have been a challenge for Wests Magpies over the years, although the focal point of growing and enhancing participation in these areas has always remained at the forefront of our minds.
We have maintained our commitment to the aforementioned areas by providing and exhausting any and all possible resources available to us by way of monetary contributions, staffing, facility hire and so on, as these areas are of paramount importance to our club now, and into the future.
All things considered, we believe the time is now right for further enhancement of our Wests Tigers brand and representation in the area. WM and WT have determined that the WT Football Department will coordinate and deliver the pathways and talent development programs in the Macarthur Liverpool region due to the resourcing and available expertise of WT. The Wests Magpies remains a pivotal part of the pathway to Wests Tigers through our Ron Massey Cup and Intrust Super Premiership.
Western Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club, now in our 110th year, remains committed to the area, with growth and participation at all levels of the game being of paramount importance to the future of our club and the great game we all love.
